New IMCA publications
The London based International Marine Contractors Association, which has 750 members in nearly 60 countries, has published a dedicated industry wide checklist for use by survey, ROV and pipeline installation contractors and their clients for mobilisation of offshore survey operations.
Entitled ‘Mobilisation Checklist for Offshore Survey Operations’ and compiled by the organisation’s Offshore Survey Division, it is designed for use by contractors for presentation to clients, or used by clients acting separately. It provides a framework to build either a brief or mobilisation checklist for survey support operations and can be expanded to cover virtually any offshore survey operation. There is also a section providing references and further reading on subjects.
Separately, IMCA also has available fresh guidelines on operation of ultra-short baseline (USBL) acoustic positioning systems used by offshore construction, survey and inspection companies when chartering third party equipped vessels or when commissioning or maintaining system installations.
Copies of both publications can be ordered from IMCA at 52 Grosvenor Gardens, London SW1W 0AU (Tel +44 (0)7824 5520 or www.imca-int.com/publications).
