New Reson multibeam development

Reson, which recently hosted a one day user conference attended by 150 participants, has upgraded its SeaBat 8160 multibeam sounder with the introduction of a more powerful and versatile model, the 7160.

The Danish manufacturer says the new system can operate over depths from 10m to 3,000m and comprises a linear receive and transmit array mounted together on a support base. For portable or hull mounted use, it features a pitch stabilised transmitter and an active roll compensated receiver.

Other main advantages cited include the addition of variable beam modes and water column data. With a nominal operating frequency of 40kHz, system swathe coverage is greater than four times water depth.
