Ohmex reports Seawork success
UK port authorities at Blyth, Chatham, Rochester, Sheerness and Southampton are among first users of Ohmex’s new PortM8 integrated tide gauge and weather system, reported company director Ted Read on the opening day of Seawork 2012.
The successor to the Southampton company’s widely used portable TidaLite system, the new black box unit features latest low power processor and flash memory technology with minimum power supply requirements. Designed to interface directly to port VTS computer systems via serial, USB or Bluetooth communications, serial data can also connect with long and short range telemetry units to facilitate acquisition of data from remote or offshore equipment.
Integral system software is PC compatible to provide a display of current values together with tide curve history over the previous 48 hours while raw data can be stored on disc. Options include a stainless steel, dynamically adjusted pressure sensor and radar level units which allow more rapid measurements while maintaining very low power consumption.
