Online ECDIS training
Ahead of mandatory introduction of ECDIS next year, Hamburg based Safebridge plans to launch later this summer an online type specific training programme in association with a number of leading equipment manufacturers.
The German company says that training solutions are completely independent from training locations and will provide users with detailed online experience in handling navigation products installed aboard the vessels they will man. Training comprises different e-learning modules, including a guided tutorial and live ‘free play’ options in addition to self testing with feedback.
Successful completion of an interactive test will result in a type specific training certificate issued on behalf of the relevant manufacturer. Collaborative agreements with the maritime training company MSG Marineserve as well as ECDIS manufacturers such as Imtech Marine, Sperry Marine and Transas Marine have already been signed.
