Pilot units and electronic charts seminar
Problems associated with port usage of Portable Pilot Units (PPUs) together with electronic charts and precise positioning is to be the subject of an afternoon seminar at Southampton Solent University’s Conference Centre on 12 May.
Jointly organised by The Hydrographic Society UK’s Southern Region, the Solent Branch of the Nautical Institute, and the UK Maritime Pilots Association, proceedings will address problems concerning use of present equipment and what improvements can be made. Slated topics are PPU hardware, Electronic Charts & ECDIS, The Human Element and User Training.
