UKHO extends H-Note service
The UK Hydrographic Office has introduced a new digital application enabling mariners from around the world to submit hydrographic data direct to its Taunton headquarters using a mobile device.
The so-called Admiralty H-Note App is a modified version of the established Hydrographic Note generally used as a source of new survey data. It will permit important navigational information to be recorded and shared with the UKHO faster and more easily than ever before.
Available for Apple or Android, the H-Note App can be downloaded at no cost from the UKHO’s website App Store. Contributions can also automatically include the user’s location co-ordinates via a device’s GPS as well as photos. All information received will be used by the UKHO to either take immediate action to warn other mariners or to consider including it in the next appropriate revision of charts or publications.
