UKHO international training success

The UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton reports successful completion of another of its internationally accredited marine cartography courses on behalf of six overseas hydrographic officers from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico, Oman, Pakistan and the Philippines.

Funded by the Nippon Foundation as part of the Japanese Capacity Building Project under the auspices of the inter-govermental International Hydrographic Bureau in Monaco, the 15 week course provided delegates with all the skills and knowledge to produce and maintain both paper and digital navigational charts. They were joined by an officer from the Japan Hydrographic & Oceanographic Department during initial stages of the course before completing numerous practical assignments and field trips to Bristol Port Authority, Britannia Royal Naval College, Brixham Coastguard and ABP Southampton.
