Cowes announces new harbour master

Captain Shane Wood will take over from Ed Walker in February 2023, working alongside the CHC (Cowes Harbour Commission) board and senior leadership team to help deliver a five-year strategic plan.

“As a Master Mariner with more than 30 years of experience with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and extensive experience of piloting, ship handling and dredgers during the past seven years, Captain Wood has a clear understanding of the many aspects of the role of harbour master in Cowes and what it takes to instil a ‘Beyond Zero’ safety culture,” said CHC chief executive Gary Hall. ”He is also a Cowes resident, so understands the importance of the harbour in the economic prosperity of both East and West Cowes.”
