Damen and Siemens unveil vessel financing scheme
Two of the biggest names in maritime have announced a joint financing facility specifically aimed at workboats.
Damen Financial Services has joined forces with Siemens Financial Services through the Damen Ship Lease (DSL). which is managed by Damen, to provide current and prospective vessel owners with options to expand their fleets.
DSL was actually set up 12 years ago and has already provided financing to more than 100 vessels, generating more than half a billion euros in sales value for Damen Shipyards, it says.
“DSL’s approach is characterised by offering leasing solutions to customers that are in the start-up or scale-up phase. With limited down payment requirements, lessees are given the opportunity to build their businesses. By participating in the financial risk of a client’s operation, DSL demonstrates its confidence in the possibilities for its clients to operate efficiently using Damen vessels.”
Siemens Financial Services is the financing arm of the energy company, offering options for refinancing, renewing, replacing or expanding fleets or making them ‘more sustainable and efficient’.
“This strategic alliance enables them to acquire state-of-the-art vessels using flexible financing options,” says the partnership. “The lease options offered allow operators in the highly competitive maritime industry to acquire vessels with the latest technology on board, enabling them to renew their fleets to become more sustainable and efficient.
“Financing is specifically available for workboats such as tugs, fast crew suppliers, Multi Cats, tenders, small ferries and water buses.”
