VIDEO: The non-stop work of UK’s Maritime Pilots
An enlightening film created by the UK Maritime Pilots Association has been released which gives an insight into just what goes on around Britain’s 109 ports day by day.
The stats speak for themselves:
– Maritime Pilots assist 96,000 vessel movements every year
– 700 Maritime Pilots serve the UK
– The UK’s Maritime Pilots assist with 95% of UK trade flow.
The sector is larger than both the automotive and aerospace transport industries and is crucial to connecting British trade and commerce with the rest of the world.
In 2014, it was estimated that UK seaports handled £511 billion worth of goods.
