CleanSeaNet spots oil
Irish authorities requested assistance last month from the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) to combat an oil spill initially detected by EMSAs CleanSeaNet service 50 miles southeast of Fastnet Rock off the countrys West Cork coast.
The Tamar is faster than its predecessor, and is the most technologically advanced lifeboat ever to be produced by the RNLI.The EMSA contracted vessel ‘Galway Fisher’ was mobilised and on standby in Cork. The image which informed Irish authorities of the spill is one of the routine images acquired by CleanSeaNet for EU Member States.
