EU Short Sea Focus
Short sea shipping has been identified as a sector for attention by EU environment commissioner Stavros Dimas. Alongside ship building, Mr Dimas believes new legislation for Europes maritime industries is necessary under his marine environment strategy aimed at cleaning up Europes territorial waters by 2021.
A joint initiative of Wartsila Propulsion Netherlands BV, Delft University of Technology, and the Holland Marine Equipment Association, the workshop will consist of four modules which can be enrolled for individually.
Environmental organisations have expressed regret that the strategy ‘contains no binding commitment to protect Europe’s seas.’
