European Maritime Pilots Warn of Deregulation Dangers
The European Maritime Pilots Association (EMPA) has warned that passage of the European Unions ports directive, which would force pilots to compete on a commercial basis, would compromise safety standards and discourage investment and training. EMPA represents 4,800 maritime pilots in Europe and facilitates the exchange of information between its members in order to continuously improve their professional and technical proficiency.
