Grid Unlocked by Charge Cap?
The British Governments Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has announced a decision to cap transmission charges payable by electricity generators in the Western and Northern Isles of Scotland. The cap ensures that renewable energy generators in the far north of Scotland will not pay disproportionately to use the grid to transport their electricity to customers and thus removes a major impediment to developing the regions vast natural resource of marine renewable wind and wave energy.
Professor Cripps worked at Lloyds before moving to the RNLI and has extensive knowledge and experience of small craft and composite technology. He will lead the technical team supported by marine design manager Dr Andrew Humphries and Dr Robin Mableson, who heads up the Composite Technology Centre.
