High Demand for New Distress Light
A new generation of marking and distress lights has been launched by Jotron (UK) Ltd.
The AQ-5 Multi Purpose Strobe Light weighs in at just 150 grams, including the two AA batteries, to provide a pocket-sized emergency marker light suitable for a variety of marine, diving and emergency service applications.
Originally developed for fishing boat and workboat crews to use in man overboard situations, the light is waterproofed to minimum depth of 30m and features two separate light sources, a high intensity xenon strobe visible for over six miles and a low power torch for instruction reading. The two AA batteries give a continuous operation endurance of approximately 12 hours in strobe mode and 60 hours in torch mode.
The AQ-5 is also suitable for the marine leisure sector and for divers where limited visibility conditions prevent normal sight contact. Early orders for the light have exceeded Jotron’s expectations and the company’s production department in Northumberland is working flat out to keep up.
