The Port of Hong Kong won the 2002 round of its continuing battle with Singapore to be the worlds busiest container port, in the process becoming the first port ever to break the 19 million TEU barrier. A 7% increase in volume took Hong Kong to 19.14 million TEU, up from 17.8 million TEU in 2001.
