Mersey Beats Route to China
Portia Management Services , the international port management and consultancy arm of the Mersey Docks Group , has won a contract to advise on the development of a major grain terminal in China and has set up a Shanghai office from which to undertake the 2.5 year project.
It was the collapse of the cable-laying market in 2001 which prompted the return of the 127.5m long vessel to Ulstein late last year. She has now gone into a two-year hire contract with offshore contractor Sonsub which could be extended, said Knut Lussand, Solstad Shipping Operations Manager.
Portia is involved in reviewing the project investment strategy, the masterplan, design proposals, tender documents, and will provide advice and assistance during construction at the Yangtse River site, which is due to start next year.
