New markets with marine crane acquisition

Noreq is a Norwegian lifeboat, davit and fender manufacturer that over the last five years has developed a reputation for innovative design, such as its enclosed davit system.

Acta has grown its reputation as a trusted supplier of offshore marine cranes, liferaft davits and deck machinery. The Danish company claims to be the only crane manufacturer in the world having CE marking on offshore cranes for wind farm installations.

In order to maintain the names of both well established companies, the name of the new company will be NoreqActa. There is a significant reserve of orders with Acta which will now be taken over by the new entity.

“We see great synergies together with our existing product range and our clients will benefit from this strengthening of our product portfolio’, said Noreq MD Styrk Bekkenes.

Some of the impetus for the acquisition comes from the growth of offshore renewable energy, a sector that is well positioned to be served by companies based in Northern Europe.

Mr Bekkenes explained that the purchase of Acta means the entry into a new industry. ‘Acta has long been an important sub supplier to the wind power industry and they hold great competence and expertise on this subject. With the future of green energy we will continue to build and strengthen Acta’s position within this industry and we see a great potential here.’

As a result, the number of employees in Noreq Group will now double, increasing from 35 to 70 people.
