VOSTA LMG Launch Vietnam Dredger
A 1,500m 3capacity trailing suction hopper dredger ordered from VOSTA LMG andbeing built at Damen Shipyards Cargo Vessels in Hoogezand, Holland for Vietnamss Waterway Dredging and Construction Co No1 waslaunched last month.
Construction of the vessel is on schedule for delivery in the first quarter of next year.
The 64m LOA dredger is built to Germanischer Lloyd rules for class GL=100 A 5 Hopper Dredge K(20) on a dredging draught of 4.6m.
Equipped with the latest dredging control and monitoring system, the vessel will dredge through a single suction pipe.
To be named Thai Binh Duong (Vietnamese for Pacific Ocean), the dredger will be based in Hai Phong where it will be used primarily for maintenance dredging although it can also undertake capital dredging projects.
