Copenhagen bridge project completed
Architect WilkinsonEyre has been working in collaboration with Danish real estate developer Realdania By & Byg for the construction of Lille Langebro, a new pedestrian and cycle bridge in Copenhagen’s Inner Harbour.
Enhancing Copenhagen’s waterfront and its reputation as the world’s best city for cycling, the bridge is now complete with the official opening is taking place on August 2019.
The new bridge, which was gifted to the municipality of Copenhagen, follows an elegant curved structure and crosses the city harbour next to the new BLOX building which is home to the Danish Architecture Center, as well as cafes, a playground and new public spaces, bringing life to a part of the harbour that has been deserted for decades. With a minimum width of 7m, Lille Langebro offers generous space for both pedestrians and cyclists, providing a safer and more peaceful alternative to the nearby Langebro bridge.
