Busy year for QuayQuip
UK based fender supply company QuayQuip may operate globally but this year they have been busy with orders closer to home on every Scottish coastline with work underway at Cairnryan, Fraserburgh and Sconser.
With P&O Ferries existing linkspan structure at Cairnryan Ferry Terminal nearing the end of its life, it was decided to install a new linkspan and re-align the berth. QuayQuip have been selected to manufacture and supply a significant amount of the associated hardware and infrastructure.
Five dolphins will be protected by twin QCN 1400 cone PMF fender systems with panels 8.4m tall. They will also manufacture and deliver all dolphin jackets, platforms, bollards and walkways integrated with the linkspan struts. Sixteen sets of QuayQuip’s T-head bollards are also being supplied.
QuayQuip laid the ground for the design work for contractors McLaughlin & Harvey with a structural analysis allowing for local conditions and visiting vessels. QuayQuip will also continue to offer support following completion.
