DHI supports the EKO Atlantic City Development in Nigeria

Consulting and research organization DHI is supporting the EKO Atlantic City development project in Nigeria. The project involves reclaiming more than 8 km/sq of land adjacent to Lagos, Nigeria, which will provide room for a mix of residential, commercial, financial and tourist accommodation.

On completion, Eko Atlantic City will to provide residential accommodation for 250,000 people. The development is also expected to provide employment for at least 50,000 people. Physical model testing at DHI’s laboratories is being used to support the design and construction of a revetment protecting the reclaimed area. The large swells rolling in from the Atlantic Ocean makes it a challenging task to build the revetment and ensure the safety of the project. Intensive physical modeling of the construction phases of the project, and of the finished structure, is being used to verify the design of the project.
