Mott MacDonald wins design role at Gdansk

The upgraded terminal will be capable of handling three million teu a year, the contract involving design of a new deepwater quay adjacent to the existing one along with container stacking yards that will operationally link with the existing facilities. The work will also include deepening of the existing harbour basin, new buildings and redevelopment of existing buildings, new utility facilities including electrical substations and underground utilities installations.

Marian Kurlanda, Mott MacDonald’s project director, said: “DCT Gdańsk is Poland’s largest and fastest growing container facility and is the only deepwater terminal in the Baltic Sea region which receives direct ocean vessel calls from the Far East. Our appointment to this prestigious project builds on our current involvement in major international port projects in Taiwan, South Africa, Canada and the United Kingdom.”
