New ferry harbour for Lavik
NCC Construction Norway is to build a new ferry harbour and two new bridges at Lavik north of Bergen in Norway.
Many localities in Norway are dependent on essential short ferry routes for communication, particularly in winter months, and one such important link between Lavik and Oppedal is currently subject to an overhaul. This contract will involve both marine and shore side road link works.
Under the SEK250m ($39m) deal NCC Construction will be responsible for construction of a new harbour in Lavik, and a new section of the expressway near the beach area as well as a new bridge and intersection for a nearby public highway. The harbour project includes 108km of road and pedestrian and cycle paths.
NCC Construction is active in the Nordic region and the Baltic countries and already has a number of other road and tunnel projects in progress in the area. The work is scheduled to be completed in August 2015.
