Pontoon systems partnership to widen range
The UK and Ireland markets should see concrete pontoons, especially large breakwaters, becoming more competitive with the joining of two forces, Intermarine and Marinetek UK.
The two are getting together to widen the range of pontoons in Great Britain and Ireland. Finnish parent company Marinetek Group Oy will be taking a stake in the UK based Intermarine alongside its current owners, the Mackley Group.
The two companies have been cooperating informally for quite some time, and this new structure will allow Marinetek’s concrete pontoons, breakwaters and floating solutions to complement Intermarine’s existing range of steel and aluminium products. As part of the new arrangement, Intermarine will be licensed to manufacture concrete pontoons and breakwaters locally.
“We have been looking for a suitable aluminium and steel system to complete our product range, says Marinetek Group CEO, Ilkka Seppälä. “Especially for aluminium there’s been strong demand among our customers in the Mediterranean, Asia and the Middle East.”
Scott Gaherty, managing director of Intermarine says: “This agreement will allow us to offer customers a truly complete range of pontoon systems, all manufactured in the UK.”
