Rauma harbour development to include dredging

The announcement of the tender by Rauman Kaupunki / Satamaliikelaitos includes the dredging of approximately 170,000m3 of clay and silt, backfilling, crane rail foundation construction and quay container crane rail installation. The contract includes construction of a 330m long quay together with a dock with a water depth of 13.5m. A designated site has been allocated for the contaminated marine and land sediment and total cost of the project is estimated at between €20m and €25m.

In 2013 although recording a 1.1% decrease in total traffic (by tonnage) from 2012, Port of Rauma managed to achieve an 8.3% increase in container traffic at 259,000 TEU. The fine detail of the tonnage figures includes a decrease in exports and imports of liquid goods and china clay but an increase in break bulk and sawn goods exports and imports.
