Van Oord and Joulz secure windfarm contract
Dutch dredging and marine contractor Van Oord has been selected to install the foundations for Eneco’s Luchterduinen offshore windfarm (formerly known as Q10), 23km off the coast of the Dutch municipalities of Noordwijk and Zandvoort, writes David Foxwell.
Van Oord will also be responsible for the electrical infrastructure, including the offshore transformer station.
The Dutch company will use one of its vessels to install a total of 43 wind turbines. Eneco’s subsidiary Joulz has been selected to install the cable from the beach to the high-voltage station 8km inland. Vestas will supply the Type V112 wind turbines.
Construction of the Luchterduinen offshore windfarm will start in July 2014. It is due to be operational in the latter part of 2015.
