Van Oord wins ADNOC contract
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has awarded the Das Island reclamation and shore protection contract to Van Oord. The contract is valued at approximately €200m. Execution of the project was due to start at the end of October and is scheduled for completion in December 2011.
Das Island, situated 110km off the coast of Abu Dhabi, is an important hub for the export of oil and gas. Under the terms of the design and construct contract an existing island that is used for export facilities will be extended by some 17 hectares.
A new airport and residential area will be built on the reclaimed land. Some 16m cu/m of sand will be reclaimed for the project.
