World class marina plan for Oslo

Until the 1960’s the Aker Brygge area of Oslo was a shipyard, but it is now at the heart of the city featuring waterside dining, shopping and entertainment facilities. A €200m investment programme to further improve the area is currently underway and Marinetek has been awarded its biggest ever contract, by Norwegian Property ASA, to construct a marina as part of the development.

The marina will be designed to accommodate a mix of vessels up to 23m in length and feature Marinetek’s 5m wide Concourse pontoons along with their 5300 Series Breakwater sections, also 5m wide. The Concourse pontoons were originally designed for the Middle East market and the company’s references include the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai and other marina projects including Port Hercule in Monaco. This contract sees the launch of the product on the Scandinavian market and Marinetek states it will “offer unparalleled wave attenuation properties, setting a premium standard for marinas in Scandinavia”.

The marina will also feature Seawave dockside services provided by Rolec and a water system designed for year-round use. Marinetek will be responsible for demolishing the existing marina and designing, supplying and installing the entire new infrastructure using its Heavy Duty and Super Yachts pontoons, mooring fingers and breakwaters. The main walkway will be a 15m wide floating structure with a 5m wide breakwater pontoon section. Two hundred berths will be available for regular berth holders with a further 40 for visitors. Production of the floating elements commenced in June this year at Martinetek’s factories in Sweden and Latvia, with installation work due in October and completion in December.
