Xblocs used in coast protection project

Contractor Odebrecht has completed a major coastal defence scheme in Panama using Xbloc armoured units developed by Delta Marine Consultants in The Netherlands.

The coastal protection project took place at Cinta Costera, Panama, and the project was completed 18 months after the first Xblocs were cast. A total of 25,000 0.75m3 Xblocs were used in the project.

The Cinta Costera project included a land reclamation effort and new coastal protection to provide space for a new coastal road, boulevard and a park. The project started in January 2008 and was completed in June 2009.
