300hp outboard engine production begins
Production has begun for a new 300hp diesel outboard engine which has successfully achieved EPA Tier 3 approval for commercial and recreational applications.
Cox Powertrain’s 300hp diesel outboard is being manufactured at the company’s UK-based headquarters in West Sussex for sale to the global market. The first outboards destined for the US market are due to be shipped in June.

The assembly plant boasts a turnkey production system developed by QM Systems Ltd. Significant investment has been made to introduce a manufacturing plant capable of producing up to one engine per hour. The production line ‘no faults forward’ design removes the possibility of assembly error, ensuring every outboard meets Cox’s requirement for the highest standards of quality. These are verified on a suite of purpose-built test cells which put every engine through its paces before shipping to the customer..
As the CXO300 is a new design built for purpose, Cox has had to work with the EPA to go through a rigorous testing process for an OEM engine.
