Agco Power (Sisu) chosen by Exe Fishing
Exmouth based Exe Fishing has chosen Agco Power (Sisu) for its replacement engine.
The company’s passenger vessel, Southern Angler, is owned by Liane O’Donnell who runs fishing trips along the South and East Devon coast throughout the summer season.
“I thought it was about time I treated her to a new engine. I looked at lots of engines and came to the conclusion that the Agco Power was the best choice. I was also recommended it by my engineer,” she said.
“My old 120hp Ford engine was fantastic. It was installed in 1985; I bought the boat in 2000 and have done around 3,000 hours a year since then.
“I was looking for an engine which would be as reliable and efficient.”
The Citius series of heavy duty engines from Agco Power have a classic, sturdy basic construction with easy to reach service points, combined with new generation control electronics.
Direct injection technology, crossflow cylinder head, centrally supported cylinder liners and advanced turbocharger technology are also features of the engines.
In addition, the engines are also one of the few ranges available suitable for running on 100% biodiesel.
“Some of the engines on the market are very complicated which I didn’t want,” said Ms O’Donnell.
“When I’m out on the seas with a boat full of passengers, I want to be sure that my engine is reliable and if something does go wrong, it’s easy to fix.
“The Agco Power engines were recommended to me by many people as they are still simple to use.”
The six cylinder 6.6 litre 66CTIM four valve engine which develops 260hp @ 2200rpm was supplied by Mermaid Marine whose sales executive, Julian Osborne, added: “The engines have been designed so that service points are easy to reach.
“Fuel filters can be changed quickly without tools and fuel spill. In addition, spare parts are standardised between engine types which is of great benefit to owners.”
The Citius series engines are available in four and six cylinder versions from 130hp to 410hp and are designed for extreme conditions.
The engines are built at Agco Power’s main factory in Finland and comply with IMO 2 emission regulations and are future proofed for the forthcoming IMO 3 legislation.
Southern Angler is a 50ft wooden, displacement vessel certified to take up to 63 passengers plus two crew.
