Bear Goes to Sea (and seawork ) With Proven Propulsion

Both companies have provided a Twin Disc MG5075 marine gearbox with a reduction ratio of 1.15:1 coupled to a Twin Disc water jet model TDJ 130. The propulsion package for Bear’s specially commissioned Ocean Dynamics 11m RIB has been specified to take into account the arduous conditions that the expedition will encounter.

Bear Grylls said that finding the most reliable and efficient water jet and gearbox package was essential to planning the expedition and designing the boat. Both Twin Disc and MIT worked with Bear and Ocean Dynamics conducting a long trial programme for the boat before it sets off to Canada after its appearance at seawork2003 .Recent personnel changes at MIT have seen Martin Jackson promoted to General Manager, MIT Ltd (Southern) and Gary Clarke, who joined the MIT team at its birth some 29 years ago, appointed as General Manager, MIT Ltd (Northern).

Martin Jackson is responsible for all staff and operations (with the exception of Accounting and Financing) at the Queensborough offices and also retains overall responsibility for the Marketing and Sales team for the entire MIT operation. Gary Clarke continues to look after all operations based at MIT’s northern facility at Hensall, East Yorkshire as well as the Group Quality Management programme ISO 9001 2000.
