Marine charger

US-based DC power products manufacturer Newmar has launched a new PTMP-Series 24 volt 150-amp marine specification battery charger.

The ABS-approved IP45-rated unit is designed for reliable performance in high-temperature and salt-air environments. Circuit boards are conformal coated. Cooling air flow is ducted so as to minimize contact with vulnerable electronic circuits inside the case. The charger automatically reduces power under extremely high temperature conditions and remains operating rather than shutting down redundant power modules, ensuring continued operation should one fail.

The PTMP charger is fully programmable using the built-in LCD screen on the front panel. The user can select charge profiles for multiple battery types or customize for special requirements. The screen shows system status and alarms conditions. The LCD screen can be removed from the charger and installed in a remote location for more convenient monitoring.

The unit provides up to 150 amps at 24 volts of charging power to three separate battery banks. Its three-step charging profile and automatic equalization program, ensures rapid recharge and long battery life. Battery program selections include flooded cell, AGM, gel and TPPL.

Newmar has designed the PTMP chargers for onboard bulkhead serviceability with easy front-panel access to all modules for plug-and-play replacement. In most cases the unit does not have to be removed from the vessel, and a service call by a technician is not necessary.

The PTMP series is also available in a 24 volt 100-amp model.
