Propulsion focus for 4th CMN webinar
With over 350 delegates registered already with six weeks still to go, The Commercial Marine Network’s fourth decarbonisation webinar, sponsored by Castoldi, is gathering considerable momentum.
The free to attend event, which will take place on Thursday 6th May 2021 is part of ‘Get set for Workboat 2050’, a popular online conference series of expert panels navigating the waters of decarbonisation compliance in the workboat industry.

Torleif Stokke, Managing Director, Servogear
Servogear has already been an active contributor to the developments going on in Norway the past 5 – 10 years in preparing the High-speed vessel operations for Zero Emission operations.
Servogear’s contribution is based on the high efficiency Ecoflow propulsion concept, to develop complete drivetrains based on Zero emission technology.
11 of 13 Hybrid, Fully electric or Hydrogen High speed vessels built in Norway are already operating or are under construction with Servogear equipment onboard. Many of them are world firsts with new technology. Servogear will talk about some of the key learnings, and focus on what is seen as important to be able to design vessels fit for purpose.
Simon Powell, Operations Director, MSE International Simon leads MSE’s interests in maritime transport, logistics, security and fuels.
His presentation will cover the pressing need for electrification of shipping, the MarRI-UK Clean Maritime Call, and MSE’s recent Flo-Mar project.
Tom Binns, Sales Manager, MIT Tom has a strong background in mechanical power transmission solutions within varying markets, from marine to agriculture and automotive. This varied industry knowledge provides a unique understanding of the challenges and demands of different driveline arrays and how these power requirements translate into decarbonisation projects.
Tom will look at why integration is key to maximising performance and ROI of zero and low carbon projects through complete system integration and vessel understanding.
When looking at a hybrid project, the driveline should no longer be looked at in isolation, Tom will argue.
