Scana Propulsion secures new contracts
Scana Propulsion has signed a deal to deliver reduction gearboxes to two Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) for Grupo CBO, Brazil.
This contract is a declared option from the previous contract on propulsion equipment to four vessels already delivered in 2016.
“In a period with few contracts for offshore vessels, we are grateful that Grupo CBO exercised options for the AHTS vessels, and pleased to announce our achievement of the contract for the reduction gears”, said Hallvard Pettersen, managing director of Scana Volda.
The gearboxes from Scana Propulsion are for a diesel-mechanical twin screw propulsion system, powered by Caterpillar MaK engines.
Delivery is scheduled for to the Grupo CBO shipyard Oceana in Itajai in Brazil, for the last two quarters of 2017.
Scana has also secured a contract for the delivery of a propulsion system for retrofit of a trawler for Harvest Fishing, UK.
This propulsion system consists of gearbox, propeller, nozzle and control system for the retrofit of the trawler Harvest Hope.
The equipment will be delivered from the premises of Scana Propulsion in Norway, within Q2-2017.
“Scana Volda is in a promising position for 2017 as we have now filled up our production capacity for the first 3 quarters”, added Mr Pettersen.
The contract partners are for these two deals are Sotreq SA in Brazil and Karstensens Skibsværft in Denmark, with the total value of the contracts reaching approximately 25m NOK.
