Second Quarter Works Leap for ASRY Repair Yard
The ASRY ship repair yard in Bahrain saw a dramatic leap in demand for steel repair and painting services during the second quarter of 2002, with steel work up by 64% over the first three months of the year and painting up by some 95%.
The ASRY yard has been completely full since January and had completed repairs on 42 vessels through June.
The pace had quickened in the second quarter, however, with some 23 ships being repaired, four of which were ULCCs and VLCCs with the largest being the 457,927dwt Stena King. ASRY has also completed works on smaller vessels including diving support boats, tugs and floating docks.
ASRY has announced its intention to exhibit for the first time at the Shiprepair and Conversion Exhibition which will take place in London’s Grand Hall Olympia on 27 and 28 November.
