REDS on the seabeds with wind farm support

Due to be operational by the middle of this year, its 25 turbines, along with those already completed at the neighbouring North Hoyle Wind Farm, will produce enough electricity to meet the needs of over 100,000 homes.

REDS was sub-contracted by Peter Madsen Rederi (PMR), the Danish scour protection specialists, to provide diving support during the J-tube and foundation installation being carried out by MT Hojgaards on behalf of N-Power.

REDS assisted with the J-Tube and cable works, grouting, sub-sea lifting operations, non-destructive testing, and inspection and reporting over the ‘difficult’ Welsh summer months last year, where weather played a key factor in work productivity.

The project continues REDS growth into the renewable energy market after their previous involvement at Barrow and Robin Rigg Offshore Wind Farms.

With their extensive knowledge base and exemplary track record, REDS has recently been contracted to carryout the J-Tube installation and diving support works at the prestigious Thanet Offshore Wind Farm.

On completion, the wind farm will comprise 100 wind turbines and have a total capacity of 300MW, which is sufficient to supply approximately 240,000 homes per year with clean energy.
