.Mr Joop Timmermans was elected President of the International Salvage Union at the ISU’s Annual Meeting in Quebec in September. Mr Timmermans, Managing Director of the Dutch towage, salvage and heavy lift company International Transport Contractors (ITC) succeeds Jean Labescat of the French company Les Abeilles.

.Asian towage and salvage contractor Semco have undertaken a tow from Singapore to offshore Nigeria with the recently completed FPSO Sea Eagle.

The tow commenced on 3 August and completed the first leg to Durban on 9 September at an average speed of 6.5 knots. The 10,000bhp tugs Salvaliant and Salvigour are carrying out the tow under Semco tow master Capt Alan Stockwell. Sea Eagle first went to sea, towed by Semco, as a bare hull delivered from Korea to Singapore for fitting out in 2001.

.The Carmet Tug Company Ltd have sold the deep sea tug Valencia. Built in 1969 by Astilleros Murueta of Guernica, she is a vessel of 37.32m in length powered by a 2000bhp Deutz main engine. The vessel has returned to Spain with new owners Pidesa S.L. of Huelva.
