Cadeler delivers second P-class WTIV

Cadeler has successfully delivered its latest jack-up wind turbine installation vessel, marking a significant milestone in the company’s fleet expansion.

Delivered on time and within budget, Wind Pace becomes the seventh vessel in Cadeler’s growing portfolio of offshore wind turbine installation vessels.

The newbuild is part of the P-class series, designed to tackle the challenges of next-generation wind farm projects. Designed with sustainability in mind, the P-class series twins a dual-fuel, methanol-ready engine with an electrical system that captures and stores excess energy for re-use.

“The P-class vessels set a new benchmark in offshore wind installation technology,” said Mikkel Gleerup, chief executive of Cadeler.

“With advanced crane capabilities, enhanced transit effectiveness and reduced energy intensity, these vessels unlock new levels of efficiency for our customers.”

The vessel was officially named at a ceremony on 12 March at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in Qidong, China. Wind Pace is destined for the US under a contract from Q2 2025 to Q1 2026, supporting an offshore wind farm project, Cadeler’s second in American waters.

With the ability to transport and install up to seven 15 MW turbines or five 20+ MW turbines per load, Wind Pace will significantly reduce installation time and improve energy efficiency, says Cadeler.

Featuring a 5,600 m² deck, a 17,600-tonne payload capacity, and a 2,600-tonne crane, the vessel can accommodate up to 130 crew members.

Wind Pace follows the delivery of Wind Peak, its sister vessel and first of the P-class deliveries. Wind Peak is currently working at the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm in the UK.
