N-O-S orders record number of CTVs

The news comes after a WindEurope report that showed a big decline in the number of grid connections and installations made in Europe in the first half of the year, which led it to halve a 2030 target for installations.

Twelve vessels – all designed in-house – will expand the fleet by about 25%, with its existing CTVs numbering around 40, added to other vessels, such as multi-purpose and service vessels, also in the fleet.

Four E-Class vessels are already under way, with another eight on order, the fleet owner said.

N-O-S was founded in 2008 on the tiny Swedish island of Donsö, which arguably has the densest shipping population in the world: 15 shipping companies operate on an island of just 1,400 people.

It was founded by lifelong friends Martin Landström and David Kristensson, both master mariners, and has experienced remarkable growth since 2008, counting 67 vessels in its fleet across many classes and now forging partnerships in Japan and the US.

Among its partners is Volvo Penta, which co-hosted an event last year to unveil its IPS platform at the same time as the christening of one of two N-O-S CTVs to have it installed. 

N-O-S is part of the Northern Offshore Group, based in Västra Frölunda, Sweden, which mainly consists of three companies, including N-O-S, American Offshore Services (A-O-S) and Noethern Energy & Supply (N-E-S).
