The contract with Vestas will begin as soon as the CSOV on order, Purus Chinook, has been launched from Vard’s shipyard in 2025.

Purus says the vessel design ’ensures it will meet the highest industry standards for offshore service, safety and latest hybrid battery technology to lower emissions and reduce engine hours’.

The vessel will have capacity for 120 people, an all-electric gangway, 18-metre helideck, 5t 3D motion-compensated crane and Chartwell 12 passenger daughter craft.,’

The contract was announced at the same time as the company cut steel on another one, Purus Coriolis, which is being built by Vard in Vietnam and is scheduled for delivery in 2027.

“Both vessels underscore Purus’ commitment to decarbonising the maritime sector by incorporating future sustainability options, such as the potential for dual fuel methanol-ready propulsion to further lower emissions, which is being targeted for possible implementation from 2027,” says Purus.
