A new coating has been launched which is designed for fast and easy onboard ship maintenance until full recoating work can be scheduled.
Designed to be an ‘arrest and hold’ product, the Plasmet ZF aerosol-based coating, from UK-based paint manufacturer Corrocoat, contains a high performance glassflake and MIO filled two pack epoxy, with both passivating and rust conversion properties.
“With a useable life of many hours and easy-to-change additional nozzles supplied with each kit, Plasmet ZF offers a tough, durable coating, ideally suited for treating small areas of coating damage, rust spotting and repairs where a coating has been removed for inspection,” said Corrocoat.
Easy application
Its aerosol form allows for easy application in difficult to access areas and for touch up work. Coating takes much less time when compared with brush application; it also ensures that every inch of the surface is covered – even deep areas and hard to reach nooks and crannies which might otherwise be missed.
Other benefits include even coverage; minimal preparation – as there is no longer a need to mix components on site from separate containers; and no clean up requirement afterwards. In addition, once opened, the aerosol has a long pot life – at least 24 hours, meaning the user has time to complete multiple jobs across a site or installation.
Application of the 400ml aerosol involves breaking the internal seal, shaking the contents and applying. There is “no need for scales, mixing containers, mixers, cleaning solvents, brushes or spray equipment,” stated Corrocoat.
