Off the shelf digital bathymetry
Eomap, the aquatic earth observation company in Gilching, Germany, has launched an off the shelf, high resolution, satellite-derived bathymetry service available via dedicated online portals as well as its business partners.
It claims that for one recent venture, Shell Petroleum saved over $1m using its solutions for mapping a 740 sq/km area off the coast of Qatar.
Other recent company endeavours have included the first complete shallow water bathymetric mapping of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef in addition to coverage of Arabian Gulf waters stretching from Bahrain to Dubai, parts of which had not previously been surveyed. A number of other worldwide locations are shortly to be added to its catalogue, the company says.
