RCS Takes Control of RNLI Lifeboats
The Radamec Groups increased operating profit for 2001 owed much to the target-exceeding performance of Radamec Control Systems marine control business. The company supplied 46 electronic bridge control systems to the RNLI which were retrofitted to ocean going Trent and Severn class lifeboats.
RCS’s electro-mechanical controls were fitted to three hovercraft operated by Hovertravel Limited and these controls will also be fitted on Hovertravel’s new large craft to be constructed at their Isle of Wight yard.
Two of the three Mersey Ferries vessels were fitted with RCS bridge controls, alarm systems and machinery control room consoles. The third vessel will be completed in 2002.
The introduction of RCS’s digital marine bridge control system, replacing the current analogue system, is planned for the second quarter of this year and will provide both improved flexibility and reduced manufacturing cost.
