Swedes refurbish shallow water survey boat
Swedish hydro survey operator MMT AB has recently completed a refurbishment project that allows the company to offer coastal high resolution surveys in shallow waters.

was imported from Iceland and everything apart from the hull and engine was removed. It has been replaced with a top line upgrade focusing on the very latest technological advances and a good working environment for the many experts who will work on board.
IceBeam
will be a notable addition to the market for high resolution charting of coastal and shallow waters. Measuring 40m LOA, it will be able to cost effectively chart the seabed with exceptional precision at depths of 5m to 500m. Advanced and versatile on board equipment will ensure precise surveying and highly dependable results.
‘It is an immense advantage to be able to offer such a cutting edge vessel in the Baltic Sea’, said MMT AB president Ola Oskarsson about IceBeam, which will sail under the Swedish flag.
The crew will consist of six people and an additional four to ten survey technicians, depending on the nature of the project, each specialised in his or her own specific area. IceBeam is equipped for expeditions of up to six weeks. Five single cabins, seven double cabins, a mess room and a laundry as well as a gym will all be at the disposal of the crew.
‘Advanced navigation and positioning systems aid IceBeam’s work, added Ola Oskarsson. ‘This together with the very latest technology such as an ROV, sampling equipment, cameras and gradiometers make it possible to chart the seabed with considerable precision in shallow waters.’
