Sinbad Marine Services of Killybegs in Ireland has purchased the Voith tractor tug Carron from the Svitzer fleet in Belfast. Two tugs of the same age, size and horsepower were reported sold in earlier Tugs & Towing reports. Carron was originally built in 1979 for use at the Grangemouth Docks and its associated oil installations. The tug is fully equipped for fire fighting but in most other respects similar to the recently sold Holmgarth and Hallgarth, with engines of 2,190bhp and a 25 ton bollard pull. Now named ‘ Carron Sinbad’ , the tug will provide port services in Killybegs and since being purchased has already carried out several contracts for its new owners.

. Three new 80 tons bollard pull tugs, with their unique triple unit propulsion systems, were completed by the ASL Shipyard in Singapore. Two tugs,

Bugsier 4

and

Bugsier 5, are for the German operators Bugsier Reederei

and

the third, named RT Margo

, is for Kotug. Construction of all three was managed by KST, a member of the Kooren Group.

Spanish shipyard Astilleros Armon has delivered the Union Onyx, the latest in a long series of 33m shiph

and

ling

and

seagoing ASD tugs for URS NV of Antwerp. Union Onyx will be stationed in Zeebrugge

and

be joined by Union Topaz later in the year. Armon still has two more powerful 85 tons bollard pull vessels on their order book, due for delivery in 2010

and

2011.
