UKHO international training success
The UK Hydrographic Office at Taunton reports successful completion of its fifth annual international cartography training course for overseas students, drawn this time from hydrographic organisations in Algeria, Bulgaria, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago and Japan.
Funded by the Nippon Foundation as part of the Japanese Capacity Building Project under the auspices of the inter-governmental International Hydrographic Organisation in Monaco, the 15 week accredited course provided the students with all the knowledge and skills for compiling and maintaining digital and paper charts necessary for seagoing navigation. In addition to completing numerous practical assignments, the students also benefited from field trips to port authorities at Bristol and Brixham.
