Dutch systems integrator Alewijnse will install the electric and automation systems on four new M-class waterjet-driven pilot tenders for the Dutch pilots association.
The vessels, being built at Next Generation Shipyards, are for the Dutch pilots association (Nederlands Loodswezen) and will replace four 1996 Discovery class pilot boats.
They are a development on the 2020 super-light power concept ‘Mira’, which was one of the lightest pilot vessels in the Dutch pilots association fleet, at 15 tonnes lighter than predecessors.
The M-class lightweight construction, smart technology and improved hull design have resulted in fuel savings of up to 30%, the deisgner says.
Alewijnse will handle the complete electrical design, system integration and installation of propulsion, power generation, automation, alarm, navigation, lighting and heating, ventilation and airconditioning.
“We share the same vision for a sustainable world as Next Generation Shipyards and Nederlands Loodswezen,” said Minne van der Valk, sales manager at Alewijnse. “As a system integrator we work closely with the best partners in providing sustainable automation systems and electrical installations. These play a vital role in digitalisation and will continue to do so in future technical developments.”
