HydroSurv has delivered an autonomous vessel to Skanska Norway to expand its uncrewed vessel capability supporting inland and coastal hydrographic survey operations.

The REAV-25 uncrewed vessel is equipped with a Norbit iWBMS multibeam echo sounder, enabling improved seabed mapping while enhancing safety and efficiency

The delivery of the REAV-25 uncrewed vessel will strengthen will support infrastructure design, construction and maintenance work across ports, inland waterways and coastal construction environments.

Enhanced mapping

Designed as a zero-emission autonomous vessel for sheltered-water operations, the REAV-25 supports multipurpose survey and environmental data acquisition campaigns.

It will undertake bathymetric hydrographic survey work using a Norbit iWBMS multibeam echo sounder, enabling improved seabed mapping while enhancing safety and efficiency. 

Twin 2.5 kW rim-driven thrusters reduce entanglement risk in shallow environments, while a 6-kWh lithium battery system enables full-day endurance during survey missions.

The commercial-grade platform integrates HydroSurv’s Virtual Watchkeeper Vessel Control System alongside a Dynautics Spectre autopilot, supporting remote and autonomous operations.

Skanska’s investment reflects increasing industry adoption of uncrewed vessel technology to improve operational efficiency, expand data availability and reduce environmental impact in marine infrastructure delivery.

Named Saga, the autonomous vessel will enter operational service in Norway following completion of trials in March 2026.
